About Pastor Ben Delin

Hello, my name is Ben Delin.  I have the honor of serving as the pastor at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Durango, Colorado.  There is much that I could tell you about myself, but if you were to ask me, “Who are you?” first I would tell you that I am a redeemed child of God.  Everything else that I identify as in life proceeds from my faith in God.  Recently, God has revealed more about the depth of His love for me in the gifts of my son, Gus and my daughters Gemma and Charis.  I am forever grateful to my bride, Edie, for her love and patience with this sinner; in my life, she is second only to God.

Learning at seminary how to be an under-shepherd of the Good Shepherd was challenging.  Persevering through that time has taught me not just about theology, but about living in my vocations.  I very much take pleasure in sports and exploring God’s creation.  Through my experiences in life I’ve learned how all of these go together.  Activities gather us together, the fellowship binds us together and the meaningful relationships (with God and with one another) keep us coming back together.

I appreciate learning and growing at St. Paul’s because we strive to live out this truth in worship.  When we need to learn more about how to do this, we grow together in our study of God’s Word.  After these two take place we always go…somewhere.  I enjoy living the life that God has given to me.  The excitement of being a pastor is found in many places, and meeting new people in the community through sharing time with them is one of these wonderful experiences.  Whether playing recreation league softball, through San Juan Basin Public Health’s R.O.A.R. Advisory Council, meeting over coffee, skiing or mountain biking, to live as a redeemed child of God is to live it out among people who know God and who don’t know God.

In Christ,

Pastor Ben Delin
